INTRODUCTION
All guitarists know well, that the final electro guitar sound is a product of many components of different equipments, with which the sounding is being created. The guitar tones are defined mainly by a guitar, a tube power amplifier, a guitar cabinet and by a set of microphones which capture the sound.
► ABOUT THE PRODUCT
With the device AMT Pangaea CP-100, you can easily emulate the sound of any guitar cabinet by loading different WAV IRs (Impulse responses) of guitar cabinets in the device memory. You can find a lot of different WAV IRs on the Web (both paid and free). In the device memory, you may load up to 100 WAV IRs to use anyone you want when playing guitar.
When connecting CP-100 to a computer via USB data cable (USB TYPE B → USB TYPE A), there is a list «USB Usage» to select one of two available modes for further operation of the device CP-100:
- «Serial Port»
- «USB Drive»
► Serial Port mode
When selecting a «Serial Port» mode, you can control all settings of your CP-100 by a special desktop version of the «AMT Pangaea CP-PA» Application (compatible with Windows OS / macOS / Linux OS):
► USB Drive mode
When selecting a «USB Drive» mode, the CP-100 is seen on the computer as a regular USB Flash drive (like «PANGAEA_MINI»).
In this mode you can update a firmware, copy & paste WAV IR files, presets, make a backup of all your CP-100, etc. — just like if you were working with a regular Flash Drive.
► FEATURES
- AMT Pangaea CP-100 lets you emulate any Guitar Cabinet sounding by loading appropriate Guitar Cabinets’ Impulse Responses (IRs). A great amount of different IRs you can easily find on the Internet (both paid and free).
- You can load up to 100 different Guitar Cabinets’ IRs in the device's memory and choose the desired one at the right moment.
- You can load IRs in the CP-100 memory and control their parameters via USB or directly on its screen.
- There are Windows / macOS / Linux Applications developed by AMT for controls all possible settings of the AMT Pangaea device via USB. This App allows converting WAV IR's files to the Pangaea's required format «on the fly» (by «drag & drop» method).
-
Using «THRU» output — you can pass the signal (without breaking signal integrity) from your tube power amplifier through the CP-100 to a guitar cabinet*, and in parallel at the same time you can process the signal by the WAV IR and send the signal directly to the input of your mixer / sound card / studio speakers or monitors / headphones, etc. This will let you play without a mic set near a guitar cabinet.
* You can replace a guitar cabinet with a load equivalent (for example AMT Power Eater PE-120) and use only a broadband sound system, headphones, mixer, or your sound card for recording. -
External guitar amplifiers till 130W could be used together with the CP-100 thanks to the attenuator built-in the CP-100.
Examples of attenuator’s usage:
✔️ 0 dB → preamp (-10 dBV ~ 0 dBu)
✔️-24 dB → Power Amp (3 W, 8 Ohm / 2 W, 16 Ohm)
✔️-28 dB → Power Amp (8 W, 8 Ohm / 5.5 W, 16 Ohm)
✔️-32 dB → Power Amp (20 W, 8 Ohm / 14 W, 16 Ohm)
✔️-36 dB → Power Amp (50 W, 8 Ohm / 35 W, 16 Ohm)
✔️-40 dB → Power Amp (130 W, 8 Ohm / 95 W, 16 Ohm)
ATTENTION! IMPORTANT! The CP-100 is not a load equivalent, not in any form! While connecting a tube amplifier (with a tube power amp) to the CP-100, you must use a real guitar cabinet or a special load box as the load equivalent!
- You may exclude even a tube power amplifier from your guitar chain equipment at all! In this case, you have to send the signal directly from your preamp output into the CP-100 input (choosing suitable WAV IR) and use headphones / mixer / sound card, etc.
- In the special CP-100 input «AUX IN» you can put some external source of a sound signal (for example, an MP3 player / your smartphone) and play along with a phonogram selected by you. That's perfect for the independent practice!
► STRUCTURE & EFFECTS OF THE CP-100
The user’s interface of the CP-100 is structured as 10 banks of 10 presets (100 presets in total). A separate impulse response of a guitar cabinet can be loaded into each preset. The module's software allows you to implement effects and functions:
- [NG] — Noise Gate;
- [CM] — Compressor;
- [PR] — Preamp (clean channel);
-
[PA] — Power Amp — emulates the sound of one of 15 tube guitar power amplifiers:
- 01. PP 6L6 — Typical Push-Pull Power Amplifier w/ 6L6 Tubes
- 02. PP EL34 — Typical Push-Pull Power Amplifier w/ EL34 Tubes
- 03. SE 6L6 — Typical Single-Ended Power Amplifier w/ 6L6 Tubes
- 04. SE EL34 — Typical Single-Ended Power Amplifier w/ EL34 Tubes
- 05. AMT TC-3 — Based on AMT Electronics® TubeCake TC-3®
- 06. CALIF (California) — Based on Mesa/Boogie® Dual Rectifier®
- 07. BRIT M (British M) — Based on Marshall® JCM-800®
- 08. BRIT L (British L) — Based on Laney® LC50 II 112 Combo®
- 09. DEFAULT — (Linear Frequency Response)
- 10. CALIF MOD —Based on Mesa/Boogie®
- 11. CALIF VINT — Based on Mesa/Boogie®
- 12. PVH 01 — Based on Peavey 6505® (with settings: Presence=0, Resonance=0)
- 13. PVH 02 — Based on Peavey 6505® (with settings: Presence=5, Resonance=5)
- 14. PVH 03 — Based on Peavey 6505® (with settings: Presence=8, Resonance=7)
- 15. PVH 04 — Based on Peavey 6505® (with settings: Presence=9, Resonance=8)
- [IR] — Impulse Response;
- [HP] — High-pass filter (HPF);
- [EQ] — 5-band parametric equalizer;
- [LP] — Low-pass filter (LPF);
- [ER] — Early Reflections (mono or stereo modes — depends on firmware's type);
- [VL] — Preset volume.
All these functions are configured and executed for each preset separately.

IMPORTANT NOTE ABOUT THE POWER SUPPLY
For powering the AMT devices always use specialized power supplies originally designed for guitar pedals & gear meeting the following basic requirements:
Please, don't try to use for these purposes the usual cheapest power supply from household appliances and electronics, like from your laptop, Wi-Fi router, etc.! Such power supplies have a reverse polarity compared to AMT devices, so it won't work! Even if you're «the guy was born with a soldering iron in the hand» and almost ready to change a polarity of such power supply — we strongly not recommend you do that!
Those kinds of power supplies are not intended for using with the guitar gear. Otherwise, you'll get a problematic very noisy guitar sound full of «hum», «cheep», and other sound «effects»!
